Current Opportunity: Midwife

The midwife provides health care and awareness to women and carries out the necessary tasks and activities to maintain the health of mothers and children under the indirect supervision of the gynecologist responsible for the “Reproductive Health, Childhood and Maternal Health Program” at the Primary Health Care Center, in matters related to family planning and the prevention of transmitted diseases. Sexual, gynecological, observation and training of pregnant women in childbirth, breastfeeding and newborn care, performing Pap smear examination, etc., in accordance with the guidelines for midwifery practice.

Adheres to the requirements for accreditation issued by the Ministry of Public Health for primary health care centers.

Supports the vision and project of the Ministry of Public Health in developing and strengthening primary health care in Lebanon

Responsibilities

  • Taking care of the health files of beneficiaries by completing the basic health information in the beneficiary’s card, specifying the type of service required and health history
  • Providing advice to beneficiaries with the aim of education, preparation and empowerment, which enhances service provision at the center and contributes to developing the health status of beneficiaries
  • Awareness and education about everything related to reproductive health and its services
  • Contributing to emphasizing the role of safe and effective family planning methods in avoiding unwanted pregnancy, and thus preventing the need to resort to abortion
  • Advice and guidance on the use of condoms and taking the necessary measures according to the development of the beneficiary’s situation to prevent sexually transmitted diseases
  • Following up the pregnant woman periodically during her pregnancy and preparing her for childbirth in terms of health, psychological and physical aspects to prevent pregnancy complications
  • Preparing for childbirth by training the pregnant woman in special exercises in addition to physical care and hygiene
  • Guiding the mother about breastfeeding and how to care for her child
  • Guiding the mother about the importance of completing vaccinations for the newborn
  • Home follow-up where needed
  • Taking the vital signs of the service recipient, such as pressure, temperature, and pulse, and recording this in the medical file
  • Providing comprehensive nursing care to beneficiaries
  • Giving medications and injections according to the treating physician’s prescription
  • Take the necessary laboratory samples and send them to the laboratory

Must Have

  • Possession of a legal midwife certificate from MOPH
  • Permission to practice the profession from the Ministry of Health in Lebanon
  • 3 years' experience as a registered midwife in a health facility
  • Initiative
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good interaction with others and communication/communication skills, in addition to social skills
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and written with all employees
  • Good knowledge of midwifery science and practice arts
  • Good knowledge of the medical devices used in the center
  • Basic skills in using a computer (electronic medical file, Excel, PowerPoint, Word), electronic printer, fax, etc.
  • Languages: Arabic, English or French
