Terms of Reference (TOR) for Cleaner/Janitor
Position Title: Cleaner/Janitor
Location: Jabal Mohsen / Mankoubin
Duration: 5 months (aligned with the project timeframe)
Level of Effort (LoE): Part-time effort allocated specifically for this project
Reporting to: Center Coordinator
Purpose of the Position
The Cleaners/Janitors will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitation in all designated project centers under the CRS -funded intervention. The role contributes to maintaining a safe and clean environment that supports the education and well-being of children in Jabal Mohsen Center.

Terms and Conditions
- The Cleaner/Janitor is expected to adhere to AICA’s code of conduct, safeguarding policies, and visibility guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cleanliness of all project premises, including classrooms, offices, washrooms, and common areas.
- Ensure floors are swept, vacuumed, and mopped as required.
- Empty and disinfect trash bins regularly and ensure proper disposal in compliance with environmental regulations.
- Maintain hygienic conditions in restrooms by cleaning toilets, sinks, mirrors, and replenishing supplies
- Disinfect high-contact surfaces, such as door handles, desks, chairs, and shared equipment.
- Conduct deep cleaning of facilities as required, particularly before and after large activities or events
- Monitor stock levels of cleaning materials and request replenishments proactively.
- Report any supply shortages or issues with cleaning equipment to the Logistics Coordinator.
- Follow occupational health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with AICA policies and donor requirements.
- Use protective equipment such as gloves and masks when handling hazardous cleaning agents.
- Immediately report any maintenance needs, safety hazards, or infrastructure damages.
- Assist in emergency cleaning tasks (e.g., spills, urgent sanitation needs, and disinfection in case of outbreaks).
- Support center teams in maintaining emergency hygiene standards as required.
- Uphold ethical conduct and adhere to Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) guidelines.
Must Have
- Education: Not required; prior cleaning experience preferred.
- Experience: 6 months to 1 year of experience in janitorial work or facility maintenance.
- Languages: Fluent in Arabic.
- Soft Skills:
- Integrity and reliability.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good physical condition to handle cleaning tasks effectively.
